RANKS & PARAMETERS Ranks determine the well, rank, of something. Honestly I don't think I have to really explain what a rank is. At least I hope not. Here is the list of available ranks, as well as the powers corresponding to it. Rank | E | D | C | B | A | Base | 10 | 20 | 30 | 40 | 50 | + | 20 | 40 | 60 | 80 | 100 | ++ | 30 | 60 | 90 | 120 | 150 | +++ | 40 | 80 | 120 | 160 | 200 |
There is an unlisted rank called EX, that is not quantifiable under the above system. EX ANYTHING IS EXCEPTIONALLY RARE AND WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED ON A STRICT, CASE BY CASE BASIS.Parameters however, are the basic functions of your Servant. They define how hard they can physically hit, how much punishment they can take, how fast they can move, their vitality, their mana pool, their ability to change fate, and so on. The rule for the rank of a parameter is how much stronger they are than a normal human. For example, say an average's human Strength would be considered 1. This means that a Servant with an extremely low E parameter in Strength would be considered 10 times stronger than a normal human. It is also worth noting that parameters are highly malleable through the use of Rank Ups and Modifiers.Rank ups are the occasions when the rank of a parameter or a skill is raised to a higher grade. For example, say that Medusa has a strength rating of B. She has a skill called Monstrous Strength that gives her strength a rank up. This means that when Monstrous Strength is activated, her strength becomes A.Yes, rank downs also exist. It works the same way, but in reverse. A - B for example. However, there is a cap to rank ups. Rank ups will not go past A. For example, Medusa has the following as her parameters, Strength: B Endurance: D Agility: A Mana: B Luck: E Then, by way of the Fame Boost (more on that HERE), these become her parameters. Strength: A Endurance: C Agility: A Mana: A Luck: D Notice how her agility remained the same? It won't go up past A rank. Even should Medusa use her Monstrous Strength skill, her strength will remain at A rank, as it is a rank up to her strength parameter, at the cost of turning her into the Gorgon. A does not rank up to A+, as A+ is a modified A.Now, a Modifier, is a boost or cut in power depending on circumstance. For example; B - B+. A B+ or a B- is still considered a B, and will be counted as such during checks. These boosts are more extreme in change compared to a mere rank up, but only activate in specific circumstances. A + modifier indicates an enormous boost in power for a very specific circumstance. For example, Chiron's Clairvoyance is considered B rank, but listed as B+. The reason it is listed as B+ is that, combined with his Eye of the Mind (True) skill, he is able to achieve very limited future sight, thus giving it a + modifier. A - modifier in turn, does not mean that it is inversely halved. It is something that can achieve the rank it states, but is highly unstable. For example, EMIYA's Kanshou and Bakuya swords are considered C-. They are capable of being C rank Noble Phantasms, but their nature as projected weapons (fakes, as Gilgamesh would put them), make them far more unstable than the real thing, thus they have a - modifier. PARAMETERS CAN BE CHANGED AT THE TIME OF SUMMONING AND AFTER BY STAFF BASED ON QUALITY OF MASTER, AND HOW CORRECTLY THE RITUAL WAS PERFORMED.

STRENGTH The measure of a Servant's physical strength and the max amount of damage they can deal when they put all their strength into the blow. Both arms are required. Lazily swinging with one hand results in the attack's power being halved. So a Servant with A rank using both hands (or both weapons if a dual wielder) will have an attack power of 50. Using one hand results in only 25. A: This is a rank usually reserved for those who were either warriors with divine blood or heroes noted specifically for their exceptional strength. Example: Heracles has a Strength ranking of this level for, among his many achievements of strength, notably holding the sky, a feat that until then had only been achieved by the Titan, Atlas. B: This is a rank reserved for those with great martial prowess in life, but not quite on the level of the divine, or heroes of legend who were known for their exceptional strength. It is not unheard of for a member of the Knight classes to have this rank. Example: Li Shuwen, despite being a recent Servant, was known for his great martial prowess in the Chinese Martial Arts, thus whether he is Assassin or Lancer, he possesses this rank in his strength parameter. C: The "average" rank. This rank is usually for more modern heroes who had martial prowess, but nothing truly outstanding. This is a common rank for Riders. It is not unheard of for physically strong Assassins to have this rank as well. Example: Robin Hood, as a member of the Archer class, is considered a Knight. However, as he is not suited for direct combat, he has this rank. D: Suited for those whose strongsuit was not strength in their life. Casters will rarely go beyond this rank. Example: Nero is a lover, not a fighter. As such, her strength is quite low. E: Suited for those who had no physical prowess in life. Like most Casters. Example: Medea, having always relied on her magic instead of any form of physical strength, has this rank.

ENDURANCE The measure of a Servant's physical endurance, the amount by which they can reduce physical damage, and their total HP pool, on a formula of Rank multipied by 10. For example, A rank END gives a total of 500 HP and reduces physical damage from regular attacks by 50. The damage reduction can never reduce damage to 0. Not without a Noble Phantasm or a Personal Skill that would allow that to happen. The HP pool can be used as a back-up MP pool if the Servant is out of MP. This however, brings up the obvious issue; overexerting yourself can weaken you, and if whatever you're doing would bring you to 0 HP, the Servant is dead.Endurance Rank x 10 = HP. A rank Strength - B rank Endurance = 10 Damage. As it is impossible to fully negate damage; an A rank Strength - A rank Endurance = 10 damage taken. Also, when disconnected from a Master, the Servant loses 50 HP per post. A: This is a rank usually reserved for those whose endurance allowed them to survive far beyond what most people would consider fatal, their durability allowing them to alter the course of history. Example: Leonidas I was, in the legendary retelling of Thermopylae, one of three hundred Spartans to hold the line against one hundred thousand Persians. The Stand of Thermopylae being a keystone of his legend. Leonidas was also supposedly the last to fall, giving him this rank. Yes, I know 300 is bogus. B: This is a rank reserved for those committed feats of great endurance that tend to go far beyond the realm of humanity, but it was not a cornerstone of their legend. Example: In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh attempted to stay away for seven days and seven nights to achieve immortality. While he was able to last for several days, he ultimately failed, but the effort was considered heroic for those of his time. Thus he has this rank. C: The "average" rank. This is for those who were not noted to be especially durable or fragile. Example: This is a common rank for most Servants. D: Suited for those who were fragile in life. Mostly those who did not take part in direct combat or labor, but had nothing truly cripping. Example: Several Hassan-i-Sabbahs, having been trained in the arts of assassination rather than combat, learned to leave their body lean and unprotected to keep it lighter and more stealthy. Thus they were quite vulnerable. E: Suited for those who regularly suffered from physical ailments and were quite weak. Example: Okita Souji, having had tuberculosis and even dying from it, was exceptionally fragile, and thus has this rank.

AGILITY The measure of a Servant's speed, how fast they can move, how fast they can attack. Basically the higher this is, the faster you move and the better you can dodge. A: This is a rank usually reserved for those who was noted for their exceptional speed, reflexes and agility. This is a common rank for Lancers and Assassins. Example: Cu Chulainn, noted to be one of the most agile Servants out there (one compared his agility to animalistic ferocity), has this rank. B: This is a rank reserved for those who were noted to have great amounts of skill and agility. This is a common rank for Sabers and Riders. Example: Even at "full power" under Rin Tohsaka, Arturia has this rank. C: The "average" rank. This is for those who were not noted to be especially quick or slow. Example: This is a common rank for most Servants. D: Suited for those who are heavily weighed down by something or were noted to be slow in life. Example: Charles Babbage, due to working in an extremely heavy suit of armor, has this rank. E: It is actually exceedingly rare to have this rank, but some may have it.

MANA The measure of a Servant's magical attack power and the mana capacity they have. Normally a Servant's Mana Pool is calculated by taking their Mana Rank and multiplying it by 5, meaning that Artoria Pendragon would have a Mana Pool of 250, under Rin. However, Casters have a different formula, multiplying their rank by 10, meaning Medea has a whopping 1000 MP. By expending MP, Casters are able to cast spells at whatever rank they are able to manage, so long as it does not exceed their Mana rank. The MP pool is also drained for activation of a Noble Phantasm. The cost for these is equivalent to the rank cast. Mana is also used to reduce magic damage. Mana can also be drained from the MP pool to heal an injured Servant. Non Caster's Mana Rank x 5 = Non Caster's MP pool. Caster's Mana Rank x 10 = Caster's MP pool. An A rank spell cast = 50 MP taken. Excalibur activated = 150 MP taken. An A rank spell - B rank Mana = 10 damage taken. As it is impossible to fully negate damage; an A rank spell - A rank Mana = 10 damage taken. 1 MP Consumed = 1 HP Restored. Magic Resistance can cancel spells entirely, but if the Magic Resistance does not match the rank of the spell, it falls to the Mana rank to do the saving. Make sense? A: This is a rank usually reserved for Casters who excelled at their magic, or other Servants who had some other means of having a high Mana rank. Example: Artoria, despite not being a Caster, has this rank thanks to the dragon core inside her. B: This is a rank reserved mostly for Casters and those who practice Magecraft in life, and seems to be their standard rank, as Casters who fall below this rank are rare. Example: Shirou Emiya, having practiced Magecraft extensively during life, has this rank despite being Archer. C: The "average" rank. This rank is usually for warriors who have a good amount of mystery to them, but never really touched magic. Example: Achilles, hero of the Trojan War and all around excellent Servant with good mystery, never touched Magecraft, and as such has this rank. D: Suited for recent heroes with little mystery and little connection to magic. Example: Gilles never personally practiced the dark arts, merely funding them. Thus as a Saber, his rank is a poor D. E: Suited for those who focused entirely on brawn. Example: Edward Teach focused entirely on physical combat and as such, has a very low rank.

LUCK The measure of a Servant's good fortune and ability to change fate. Often used when involving checks regarding the ability to change one's fate, such as against Cu Chulainn's Gae Bolg. When picking a Servant's luck rank, take a good, long look at their lives first. A: A rank only reserved for those blessed with incredible fortune or those whose actions changed the entire course of the world, ensuring that nothing would ever be the same again. Example: Gilgamesh's actions set into motion the end of the Age of the Gods. While Solomon's death would accelerate it, Gilgamesh's actions irreversibly altered the entire course of human history. B: This is a rank reserved for those with great fortune in life or whose actions altered the course of entire nations. Example: Lancelot du Lac was born lucky, raised by fairies, and was able to lead a thrilling life. His affair with Guinevere also permanently altered the course of Britain and set the events of Camlann into motion. C: The "average" rank. Meant for those who suffered both fortune and misfortune alike in nearly equal amounts. Example: Most Servants will probably have this rank, honestly. D: Suited for those who may have led something of a decent life, but met a tragic end. Example: Tamamo-no-Mae was the favored concubine and treated thusly, but was ultimately hunted down and killed when Abe-no-Semei exposed her for a kitsune. E: All of life is suffering. Example: Shirou Emiya's entire life was pain and agony. From losing his original family, to watching people he cared about die in front of him, to making an eternal pact with the world where all he could do was be betrayed by his own ideals. Happiness was never within his grasp.
