Oh yeah, the time had come. He wasn't surprised he'd been chosen by the Grail. A prodigous Magus like himself surely wouldn't be passed up by the wishmaker. Needless to say, as Alex had the circle prepared in his living room, he had an exceptionally smug look about him. This would be an easy win, he knew that much. No Magus was on his caliber, and as such, any Servant he drew would naturally be the best. It was just logic. His catalyst was something at least. To be honest, he had considered foregoing one. Someone like him didn't really need a catalyst, but apparently it was "recommended" so he had gone out of his way to get one. A simple veil, placed on a makeshift altar. With the circle completed, he was ready to begin, glancing at the Command Seals on his hand before holding it out. "Silver and iron to the origin. Stone and the archduke of contracts to the foundation. Let my family be the ancestors." The circle started to glow, that was something, right? "Shut and fill, shut and fill, shut and fill, shut and fill, shut and fill. Each repeated five times, each shattering once filled, for I announce."This was easier than he thought, he figured it'd be a tough as hell ritual for most people but it was surprisingly simple. "You, who are my Servant, I place my fate in your sword. If you agree with this feeling and reason, then by the approach of the Holy Grail, answer my call. I swear that I will be all the good of the world. I swear that I will sweep aside all the evil of the world." Oooh, was it glowing brighter? Awesome! "Guardian of the scales, Meddler in the fate of man, come forth from the ring of restraint, and be the Protector of the Balance!" Alex had to tightly shut his eyes with a cringe at that last part as the blinding light blasted him. Time to see what he got. tags: Caster notes: castaaaahhhhh

This can only end well. | It had been such a long time since she had been given form. Caster had been brought forth by this young Mage's summoning ritual as intended. The catalyst he had used had called to her instantly, and so she found herself standing before the young male as the light began to fade. Her golden eyes settled heavily upon her Master as she looked him over quietly. Was this who she was to be bound to? Her head tilted to the side before her lips curled into a half smile as she folded her hands in front of her. "You have called me forth, Master. Your Servant class, Caster, has answered your summon as you bid," she greeted demurely.
Slowly she allowed her gaze to take in her surroundings. The living room? The Grail supplied her with basic knowledge of the time she had been summoned into, but knowledge was not a replacement for experience after all. The hem of her dress trailed along the floor as she stepped from the center of the summoning circle to close the distance to her Master. Caster lifted her head to gain a closer looks. His summoning had been a successful one, which gave her hope that her Master was a capable one. He effectively towered over her diminutive frame, but such a thing mattered little to her. Many had done the same in her previous life as well after all.
"I hope our partnership will be a fruitful one." Caster wondered if he would be satisfied with who he had summoned forth. Many did not seek out those of her class, since the Knight classes were often stronger. At the very least, she was satisfied with the mana he would help to supply her with. To have the chance to experience this world and time on her own merit would be such a welcome gift. She was thankful to him for that alone, and for the chance to seek out the Holy Grail as well. Nearly all who participated had a wish in their hearts in a hope to be given life. |

As his vision slowly returned, he couldn't help but noticing the soft voice addressing him. Opening his eyes, he took in a well shaped face and really, the guy was enchanted at first sight. A long flowing dress, light blue hair, and golden eyes. He didn't know many people with golden eyes, they worked really well with her. Although, he had to admit one minor thing. He blinked a couple times. He really hadn't expected Servants to be so pretty. They were from the past right, where things like basic hygiene just plain didn't exist. But here was this beautiful woman standing right in front of him. But when she stepped forward to get a closer look, he reached a hand out and touched her cheek for a moment before dropping his hand. "S-Sorry, just wanted to make sure you were... real, I guess?" He'd never done a summoning before. Were Servants supposed to be physical like this or were they ghostly? "I've never summoned anything before, you're actually my first time." Still, he wasn't sure what he should have expected, what good was a familiar if it couldn't actually do anything after being summoned? Still, the drain from her wasn't as bad as he feared it might be. But the fact that she was Caster might be an issue. He was already an exceptional mage. But maybe two heads were better than one. Oh, right, there was one other thing! Alex pointed at the altar behind her, specifically the veil in particular. "I'm guessing that's yours? It's what I used to summon you." He wasn't sure what importance a veil held, but whatever it was, it was good enough that it was able to summon this beauty. tags: Casternotes: azura +w+

I love Azura. <3 | Her head tilted to the side when she felt the weight of his palm against her cheek. Caster had not been expecting that reaction to her presence, but it should not surprise her. Her lips curled into an understanding smile as she merely shook her head. "No need to apologize, Master. As you can see, your summoning was successful. You are my anchor to this world, for which I thank you." If only she had all the time in the world to experience this time as she would like to. The Grail gave her the necessities she needed to survive, but it was only through her own eyes that she would truly know.
"I hope I do not disappoint you, then. I may not be the Servant class you were hoping for, but I am not helpless." Caster knew she would not be able to face the other Servants in a head on match, but she was confident in her own skills. There were so many ways to disarm a foe without even engaging them in close range after all. Besides, the magecraft of her time far outstripped what was used by the mages of this era. If he believed himself to be an unsurpassed magus, then he would soon learn of her capabilities. A woman did have to have her pride after all, no? She glanced over her shoulder as he pointed to the alter that held the catalyst of her summoning.
Caster turned from her Master and walked towards the alter with a shadowed expression. Slim fingers grasped the silken fabric of the veil as she considered her luck. Of all the things to summon her with! "Yes, this was mine in my former life. Thank you for acquiring it, Master. It will be most useful to me," she murmured. With a practiced ease, she slid the veil over her cheeks and secured it into place. She turned back to him with another dazzling smile before she gestured her hand to him. "If we are to be partners, then I would like to know your name and capabilities." |

The reassurance that she was far from helpless wasn't really a surprise. Alex crossed his arms, feeling a bit better and laughed. "I would imagine you're capable. A helpless hero would be quite the paradox, wouldn't you think?" He took a moment to think on the idea of that. "I imagine if a Master called a Servant that was weaker than them, they'd just call it quits right there." He wondered if any poor souls were just that unlucky. The thought of such brought emotions of humor and pity, and he sent a silent prayer that no one would have such terrible luck, with another prayer that they would have such terrible luck. Easy win, right? Still, he felt a little guilty. Did she feel like she was unwanted? He shook his head to reassure her in turn. "I wasn't taking a clear shot at any class in particular, to be honest. I feel like I lucked out, really." But enough of her, she wanted to hear of him! And placing the tips of his fingers on his chest, he was more than happy to oblige! "But I am Alexander Sorel, effective representative for the prestigious Sorel estate." While a Servant not hearing of his family was a given, surely there were few in the Magus world who had not heard of the glorious Sorel family. Right? Regardless, that didn't specify what he could do exactly. "I'm a Gandr user. It's a modern curse that normally causes sickness, but mine has enough mana packed into each shot it's like a bullet." Which also meant that compared to a Servant he was completely useless. He was an anchor for her, nothing more. He could only sit back and enjoy the show while his Servant won the entire war for him. "Is there anything else you'd like to know, Caster?" tags: Caster notes: no master would be that unfortunate~

[googlefont=Quicksand] I DON'T KNOW WHY I DIDN'T COME SOMETHING HAS TO MAKE YOU RUN. I FEEL AS EMPTY AS A DRUM.
Hahah, very funny. So not. | An ambiguous smile crossed her lips as she spoke of helpless heroes. Perhaps it would be quite the paradox, but Caster could think of a few heroes that would fall under such a thing. She had known so many heroes during her former life after all. "Perhaps, perhaps not. The first thing you should learn is to never underestimate a Servant on how they appear alone," she warned lightly. Empires had been toppled by less after all. Her expression became somewhat melancholic at that train of thought, but there was little use in mourning for what could not be changed. For now she began to circle the living area she had been summoned to. It never ceased to amaze her how mankind never ceased to move forward with their accomplishments.
"I hope you continue to believe so, Master," she replied demurely. Amusement danced through her golden eyes at how happy he was to speak to himself. Oh, yes, this was someone she could work easily with. This Alexander Sorel was familiar to her in the sense of how he acted. Such assurance in his capabilities and how far they would carry him in war. Would he continue to believe so? Would he wish to claim the Grail because only he was worthy, or because he wished to prove himself worthy? "Do you wish for me to address you by your first name or title? I imagine it would be less conspicuous of me in public. Of course, I can simply stay in my astral form until you have need of me. I am your tool to use in this war."
A Gandr user? Perhaps the curse would be useful against the other Masters, but it would not aid him against a Servant. Caster paused for a moment as she considered what else she would like to ask him. "Why do you wish for the Grail, if I may ask? You seem to live quite a comfortable life already. Do you wish for more? Or to leave your mark on the world for everyone to know of you?" |

Well that was just common sense. Parameters were one thing, but Noble Phantasms were something else entirely, which, according to his own connection, his Caster's Noble Phantasm probably wasn't something to sneeze at. A+ was a pretty good rank. It complimented her parameters and class skills as well. Fitting for an excellent Caster. He did make a mental note that her strength and endurance were higher than what he'd expected. Maybe in life she'd had some martial training or something. Maybe something worth looking into. But hoping he'd believe to feel he got lucky? Yeah sure, he could do that. Still, the way she was talking was well... kind of disturbing. His lips thinned a little. "Alex is fine. ... And come on, don't refer to yourself as a tool. That implies you can't pass the Turing test." And well, he was pretty sure that she could, right? "Hold on. Answer this then; what is love?" That was one of those questions that caused robots to fritz out and all that. He was pretty sure Servants were living things, complete with feelings. But really, the terminology used by Caster was something that had piqued his interest, he couldn't well let it go. But there was still the other question that she wished to ask him. So why was he in this? Well, thinking on it, the reason might be small, but to him it was a simple one. He gave a light shrug, not dismissive, but it wasn't really something he was going to give too much thought. "Well, I want a Mystic Code." It was kind of embarrassing that the Sorel family didn't have one. "Our family used to have one, but we lost it or something. I don't know the whole story." He shrugged. "So if I want a new one, what better Mystic Code than something powered by the Grail itself?""What about you? You probably led a really exciting life, not sure what you'd want the Grail for." tags: Caster notes: i am hearing "please night, make rider weaker"

[googlefont=Quicksand] I DON'T KNOW WHY I DIDN'T COME SOMETHING HAS TO MAKE YOU RUN. I FEEL AS EMPTY AS A DRUM.
And I'm hearing you don't want Cassie or Caster. >w> | Her head tilted to the side as she watched his lips thin in displeasure. Oh, had she annoyed her master already? How strange. The men of her time would have been quite pleased with her demure demeanor. Were the men of this time different after all? The Grail provided her with enough knowledge to get by in this modern world, but she could only rely on her past experiences on how to behave and act. It seemed Caster would have to readjust her mannerisms to suit her Master, or until she knew for certain he would not mind her true self. Well, as close she could be to who she was. An amused laugh escaped her at his unexpected question; the sound as musical as a bell. Caster shifted her golden eyes upward as a bittersweet smile crossed her lips.
"Would you like the truth, Alex? Love is poison. A sweet poison, but one that will kill you all the same," she replied a little sadly. It had been one of the most destructive forces that had defined a majority of her life, or a very ugly form of it. "Very well, I shall not refer to myself as a tool. Shall we be partners, then?" Caster asked as she walked towards him. Her head tilted to the side as she leaned forward to place her hand against his cheek lightly. "You are sweeter than I had hoped for. I believe we shall get along quite well." He had already seemed taken with her once he had summoned her, and she would be silly to ignore that.
She took a step back before he answered why he wished for the Grail. A Mystic Code? "Your family would certainly have a very powerful Mystic Code at your disposal," she mused with a furrowed brow. A conduit to the Grail itself seemed possible in theory, but such power in the hands of a mortal seemed unwise. "If it pleases you, I can create items that are akin to a Mystic Code for you should the need arise." It seemed he had chosen an apt partner in her, whether he had meant to or not. Caster folded her hands in front of her as she considered his own question for her. Why did she yearn for the grail? An exciting life did not mean a happy one.
"My wish is a personal one I am not ready to divulge to you." |
